The Inca Trail to Machu Picchu is rated among the best trekking trips in the world because of the
exquisite beauty of its natural surroundings. It includes different ecological areas from high deserts to the Andean tropical rain-forest. Following this ancient Inca Trail, we will be walking past mysterious archaeological sites, half covered by the jungle overgrowth that looks like you are discovering them for the first time, and finally arriving to the lost city of the Incas: Machu Picchu.

Our journey is conducted by experienced guides that will make your trip pleasant and safe. Our service includes native «Quechua» porters for your luggage and we will provide delicious meals during the trip.
Additional extra night at Aguas Calientes for a more extensive visit to Machu Picchu Citadel on the next day.

Itinerary description
DAY 1: CUSCO – Km. 82 – HUAYLLABAMBA:

Transfer from the hotel to Km. 82, where we will meet our porters and equipment. We start our trek escorted by the porters, going through semi-arid terrain along the Urubamba River with magnificent views of snow-capped mountains. We will leave the Urubamba valley and set off up the Kusichaca River to our first camp site in Huayllabamba (around 3000 m.a.s.l – 9842 f.a.s.l).

  • Hours of walking:6 hours approximately.
DAY 2: HUAYLLABAMBA – PACAYMAYO:

After a healthy breakfast we will begin to walk to the Warmihuañusca pass (4200 mts – 13860 ft.
approximately). After a short time, we will reach the top of the pass. From this place, it is possible to see the other side of the way leading to Runkurakay ruins. At the end of a gorge, we will stop at a place called Pacaymayo (3600 mts. – 11181 ft.), our second camp.

  • Hours of walking: 7 hours approximately.
DAY 3: PACAYMAYO- PHUYUPATAMARCA:

We will depart from Pacaymayo and a while later a zigzagging but short ascent will take us to the
Runkurakay circular ruins. There is no sign of human life, only great forests and abrupt hills.
After a good rest, we will start our way down and then we will clearly notice that the Inca Trail is well preserved from this point on. In a short while, we will get the steps which go up to Sayacmarca ruins (3620 mts – 11946 ft approximately). From Sayacmarca the stone road begins to go into the jungle, continuing our trek towards Phuyupatamarca ruins. The trail crosses the «Lago Seco» and for brief moments we will go up and down. We will then cross «The Tunnel», a natural cavity produced by a landslide but adapted by the Incas. The Inca Trail well-traced borders continue on the hills full of moss and fern.

After crossing a small pass, we will see some steep steps and under them the Ceremonial
Center of Phuyupatamarca ruins (3650 mts – 12045 ft approximately), where we will set our camp.

DAY 4 PHUYUPATAMARCA – WIÑAYWAYNA – MACCHU PICCHU.

We will start early in the morning going down the trail hiking for 3 hours until reaching Wiñaywayna (2700 mts – 8,856ft approximately), the main archaeological site after Machupicchu in the Inca Trail, we will visit the site, from where we can see the Urubamba valley and the river. The path goes down to WiñayWayna ruins (2650 mts – 8745 ft approximately), the most important ruins after Machu Picchu, heading then towards IntiPunku (2740 mts – 9042 ft approximately), the Sun Gate, our last pass. the lunch will be provided in this place, Machu Picchu (2450 mts – 8085 ft approximately) looks unreal and beautiful. We will visit the citadel the circuit number 1 and finally we will head down Aguas Calientes town, we will spend the night there.

DAY 5: MACHU PICCHU – CUSCO:

After an early breakfast, passengers will be met by their guide at the hotel’s lobby to start our visit to the Sanctuary of Machupicchu. After this awesome visit, passengers will return to Machu Picchu town (known before as Aguas Calientes), here passengers will enjoy lunch (not included). After lunch take the train back to Cusco. Upon arrival to Ollantaytambo train station, passengers will be transferred in a private vehicle back to their hotel.

    • Mandatory Documentation It is essential to present a valid passport, updated student ID, or national ID for registration and access to the Inca Trail.

    • Physical Requirements The tour involves walking between 5 to 6 hours per day. Participants must be in good health and have adequate physical condition.

    • Weather & Equipment Between December and April, rain gear is recommended. Weather conditions may vary, so it is necessary to bring light clothing for daytime and warm clothing for the evenings.

    • Health & Safety Each traveler must carry their personal medications prescribed by their doctor. The agency is not responsible for medical conditions not previously disclosed.

    • Personal Belongings Cameras, electronic devices, and personal items are the sole responsibility of the traveler. The agency is not liable for loss or damage.

    • Additional Expenses It is recommended to bring extra money for personal purchases and expenses not included in the package.

    • Itinerary Changes The program may be modified due to weather conditions, safety concerns, or operational decisions made by the authorities of the Historic Sanctuary of Machu Picchu.
